Abo Lafaek - 'Grandfather Crocodile'

It's the 16th of April, 2012. A beautiful sunrise blooms over Dili's Cape Fatucama, forging a mountain silhouette that distinctly resembles the contours of a crocodile's back. It's the morning of the presidential elections. All over the tiny-island nation, people have begun journeying to polling stations to elect a new leader.

East Timorese animist beliefs trace the birth of their nation back to the reincarnation of a crocodile into a spectacular landscape that is now Timor.
